Story or comment

I had to wait, and wait, and wait to capture this image. When we first encountered this Red Fox it was sound asleep and let us approach quite closely. Eventually the animal woke up but pretty much refused to lift its head. Finally the fox looked directly up in the direction of the two rust-coloured leaves (which is EXACTLY what I was waiting for). In this case perserverance paid dividends!

NOTE: The branches in the background were originally a grayish burgundy colour. I slightly and selectively desaturated the burgundy colour so that the viewer would been drawn to the two key elements in the photo - the fox and the two leaves.

Translation from Babelfish (please don't hesitate to edit!):

Lots more detail about this specific image (field notes, camera and shooting details, processing details, species status and conservation) can be found at the following page on my website:

I look forward to your comments...

Brad

PS: I will be not be posting (and out of contact) for the next 4 to 6 weeks - I am traveling to a remote location on Canada's northwestern coast in search of grizzlies, whales, and spirit bears. Until late October or early November - cheers!

Respect for your patience and good look on the situation, Brad ! The two small leaves in red ... That is the point ! Great picture !

For me, allmost the maximum ... because the de-saturation of the small twigs is slightly visible ... Dommage ! But I am sure, that if you want, you can do it so, that it will not be visible anymore.

Amicalement,
Yvon

Hello Yvon,

Thanks for commenting on my image. Here's an interesting observation for you - I have shown this photo in a few other places over the last while and NOT drawn attention (or mentioned) the undersaturation of the branches. In each case no one has mentioned anything related to how they look (and the image has gone through some pretty tough scrutineers!). I wonder if anyone at Nunda Foto would have thought of commenting on the appearance of the branches if I hadn't mentioned it? Food for thought! Just an interesting observation...and I really DO appreciate your feedback!

Cheers...

Brad

Hello Brad,

This image is very esthetic. As you write the fox finaly raised the head above the small branches which were in front of it.
The only small negative point for me concern the desaturation of branches. I think it is perhaps too accentuated, the colour seems no natural. But it is only my opinion based on what i see my own screen.

Thanks for showing us this image.

Bonjour,

Good morning Mister Mountain from the Brad hill,

Oh I can see u shot my “brother” in the snow!
In my opinion maybe the most idea too show how his beautiful fur it is.

U’re very lucky with both the leaves….close the fox!

I enjoy this “print” ….this image.

Thanks a lot Mister Mountain, u entertain my eyes.

In the friendly way
